This bathroom got a shower roomy enough for two people at once: two rain heads mounted in the ceiling, each with its own valve trim, plus a hand shower on a slide bar. The marble-look porcelain runs up every wall and across the ceiling inside the shower, so there's no painted drywall over the wettest part of the room for steam to peel or stain.
An L-shaped bench wraps two walls, topped with black granite. A one-piece stone top has no grout joints where you sit, and tops like this are set with a slight pitch toward the shower floor so water runs off instead of standing. The three long niches are recessed into the wall and backed with a chevron mosaic, with black stone shelves that match the bench and the cap on the half wall.
The floor is a pebble mosaic. All those small stones mean a lot of grout lines, and that texture is what gives wet feet traction; the pieces also follow the slope to the drain without awkward cuts. Outside the glass we set a white shaker vanity with a black granite top, matte black faucet and pulls, and an LED mirror, carrying the dark accents of the shower into the rest of the room.
What we did
- Tiled the shower walls and ceiling in large marble-look porcelain
- Built an L-shaped bench along two walls, capped in black granite
- Recessed three long niches with chevron mosaic backs and black stone shelves
- Laid a white-and-black pebble mosaic shower floor
- Built a half wall with a granite cap and installed a glass door
- Installed two ceiling rain heads, a slide-bar hand shower and matte black trim
- Installed a white shaker vanity with a black granite top and an LED mirror
- Tiled the bathroom floor in a small marble-look mosaic
