Process and timeline

How does a project with Pisasale & Sons work?

Four steps: a walkthrough and free written estimate; choosing finishes, with our guidance; one crew building it from demolition to the final coat, with permits handled; and a final walkthrough where we fix anything that isn't right. We stand behind the work after we leave.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

Most of our bathrooms take two to four weeks from demolition to final walkthrough. A full gut with a custom tiled shower and glass enclosure is on the longer end. Remodel timelines, phase by phase.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Most kitchens take four to eight weeks from demolition to final walkthrough, depending mostly on cabinet lead times and whether walls move. You get a schedule with your written estimate.

How soon can you come out?

We reply within 1 business day. Then we set a walkthrough at a time that works for you. We're based in Eagleville, so most of Montgomery County is a 10–25 minute drive.

Do you take small jobs?

Yes. Pisasale & Sons takes small jobs like faucet, sink and toilet replacement, light fixtures, drywall repair, doors, trim, a single bathroom floor or one backsplash, with the same crew and the same free written estimate. Handyman services.

Permits and registration

Does Pisasale & Sons handle permits?

Yes. When a project needs a permit, such as structural changes, new plumbing or wiring, additions, egress windows or most decks, we prepare the drawings, pull the permit from your township, borough or Philadelphia L&I, and schedule the inspections.

Do I need a permit to remodel a bathroom or kitchen in Pennsylvania?

Replacing tile, cabinets, a vanity or a toilet in the same spot generally doesn't need a permit. Moving plumbing, adding circuits, or changing framing usually does, under Pennsylvania's Uniform Construction Code. Permit guide: Philadelphia vs. the townships.

My mailing address doesn't match my township. Who issues my permit?

The municipality the house actually sits in, not the post office name. ZIP codes like 19403, 19426 and 19460 cross several townships and boroughs, so we confirm your municipality before the estimate and file with the right office.

Does a deck need a permit in Montgomery County?

Usually. Pennsylvania's code exempts only uncovered decks 30 inches or less above grade, and townships can still apply zoning rules to those. Footings go at least 36 inches deep, below the frost line. Deck cost and permit guide.

Bathrooms and showers

Can you convert my tub into a walk-in shower?

Yes. We remove the tub, build a sloped, waterproofed shower pan, and tile the walls and floor, often with a niche and a bench. If the drain needs to move, a licensed plumber we coordinate handles that part. See a walk-in shower with a pebble floor and bench.

How do you waterproof a tiled shower?

Every shower Pisasale & Sons builds gets a continuous waterproofing layer behind the tile, either a sheet membrane or a liquid-applied coating, with sealed seams, corners, niches and valve openings. Tile and grout alone are not waterproof. Shower waterproofing explained.

Why choose a pebble or small mosaic shower floor?

Small tiles follow the slope to the drain without lippage, and the extra grout lines give bare feet more grip than one large tile would. That's why many of our showers pair large wall tile with a mosaic or pebble floor.

Kitchens

Can you remove a wall to open up my kitchen?

Often, yes. We first confirm whether the wall is load-bearing and what runs through it. If it carries load, it gets an engineered beam and a permit; if not, removal is usually quick plus patching. Load-bearing wall guide.

What's included in a kitchen remodel?

Whatever your kitchen needs: demolition, cabinets, countertops, backsplash tile, sink and faucet, lighting, flooring, painting, and wall changes when they make sense. Everything is listed line by line in the written estimate. Kitchen remodeling.

Basements, floors and decks

Can a damp basement still be finished?

Often, yes. Gutters, downspout extensions and grading fix most dampness, and moisture-tolerant materials like vinyl plank flooring handle what's left. If water is actively coming in, it should be waterproofed before any framing starts. Basement finishing.

Does a basement bedroom need an egress window?

Yes. Every basement sleeping room needs an emergency escape opening of at least 5.7 square feet net clear (5.0 at or below grade), at least 24 inches high and 20 inches wide, with the sill no higher than 44 inches off the floor. Egress window guide.

Is luxury vinyl plank or hardwood better?

Luxury vinyl plank handles water and pets better and works in basements and kitchens. Hardwood can be refinished and suits living areas and bedrooms. Many homes use both. LVP vs. hardwood.

Composite or pressure-treated decking?

Pressure-treated wood costs less up front but needs cleaning and sealing every few years. Composite costs more but only needs washing. Decks and porches.
