This floor runs through most of the home: the living room, the dining area next to the kitchen, a long side room and a bedroom. The planks run the long way through the long rooms, which makes them look even longer and keeps the eye moving toward the windows at the far end instead of across the width of the room.
Vinyl plank holds up well to spills and daily traffic, it's quieter and warmer underfoot than tile, and a damaged plank can be replaced without redoing the room. Once the floor was down, new white baseboards went in to cover the expansion gap the planks need at the walls, the walls were painted, and the bedroom closet got a new shelf and rod.
What we did
- Installed wood-look luxury vinyl plank through the living, dining, side room and bedroom
- Ran the planks lengthwise through the long rooms
- Installed new white baseboards
- Painted the walls
